On January 25, 2008, an unknown 18-year-old male posted on a BMW M5 message board about a noise his car makes when he shifts going at 140 mph. People on the board expressed concern over the teens speeding but the teen replied “I completely understand where you are coming from, assuming that I am irresponsible…that is definitely understandable. I do sometimes make bad decisions but I am young and I do drive safe and I will not endanger the lives of others.”

You know what happens next…

The next day, 18-year-old Josh Ammirato went to a basketball game with four other friends. After the game, the teens decided to go to a party. Around 3:30 am, a car that fit the description of the one the unknown teen spoke about on the message board flew off runway at Greystone Airport, part of a fly-on community outside Ocala, Florida. The car is believed to have slid sideways before flying off the end of the runway. The car then flew 200 feet and slammed into a tree, killing the 5 occupants.

Members of the forum were unaware that the person talking about his car and the teen that killed himself were the same person until they began piecing it together. The car in the accident was the same color as the one the teen described. Both drivers were 18-years-old  and from Florida, and at the end of one post the teen signed “Josh”. Members of the forum were shocked when they figured it out.

Unsurprisingly, the car the teen boasted about having was not his but his father’s. It sucks the kid managed to kill himself and four other friends in the car. One of his friends had just turned 19 and they were out celebrating. Still, I wonder what the kid and the father were thinking. The father for letting the son borrow an $83,000 car and the kid for boasting about being a safe driver only to pull this stunt. I guess the smartest thing the kid did was drive on an empty runway and not down a street or highway. It would have been horrible had he hit another car. Read the full article below
