ITR Superbowl Drinking Game – 2008 Edition

What you need:

1. Beer.
2. Friends.
3. TV.

You need the trifecta to make this game a splash! Chips and dip are recommended.

The Rules:

A “drink” constitutes a sip of your beer, we would not recommend doing this with anything stronger. If you play this game with shots as a drink, you will die. It’s true. This is football, it’s a beer game!

For everyone:

1 Drink everytime…

• Some actually laughs at a Superbowl commercial
• A commercial featuring beer is on
• There is a turnover (fumble, interception)
• There is a touchdown or field goal
• The words “Superbowl”, “big game”, “replay” and “pressure” are uttered
• There is a change of possession

2 Drinks

• If someone asks what the score is, 2 extra drinks if the score is on the screen at the time
• If someone curses at the TV, or God. God forbid!

3 Drinks

• If there is a kickoff or punt return for a touchdown
• If someone asks which team is which color.
• You hear the words “Vince Lombardi”

5 Drinks if there is a safety, a field goal kick hits the uprights, or a man runs naked on the field.

If you are rooting for the Patriots:

1 Drink everytime…

• You hear the words “dynasty”, “genius”, or “19-0″
• The Patriots get a first down
• Brady completes a pass to Randy Moss or Wes Welker

2 Drinks everytime you hear the word “boot”, “supermodel”, or “cheating”

3 Drinks if Tom Brady gets intercepted

5 Drinks if at any moment Tom Brady makes you question your sexuality.

If you are rooting for the Giants:

1 Drink everytime…

• You hear the words, “underdog”, ”Burress”, or ”23-17″
• The Giants get a first down
• Eli completes a pass to Plaxico Burress or Amani Toomer

2 Drinks everytime you hear the word “Peyton”, “Plax”, or “Packers”

3 Drinks if Eli Manning gets intercepted

5 Drinks anytime Eli Manning runs for a first down or touchdown

If you are watching only for the commercials:

1 Drink…

• At the start of a commercial break
• Every time there is a commercial about SUVs, sexual impotence, or trucks
• Every time you realize you have no idea what’s going on in the actual game
• Everytime you hear the words “performance”, “hot”, and “FOX” during a commercial break

2 Drinks everytime you recognize a football player in a commercial

5 Drinks if you start rooting for the team that’s winning by the end of the game
