Won’t someone think of the children older sex workers?

Tragically, in New Zealand, “underage prostitutes are forcing experienced sex workers to go home hungry.”

Right… more after the jump:

The unexpected victims of underage prostitution are apparently the older sex workers who are being passed over… which seems like it really should not be a bigger concern than the ruined childhoods and coerced illegal sexual acts.

But, apparently in New Zealand, the “plight” of older and more experienced sex workers is becoming a serious concern. The younger girls are taking aways business from women who had streetwalked for years.

A former sex worker was quoted as saying “Older women are going home with nothing. It’s been a sad Christmas for many of them – the competition is just getting too much.” This begs the question, how happy is Christmas when you are a sex worker usually?

Fortunately, the “Stuff” article eventually discusses the damage of prostitution for children, and how bad that aspect of all this is. But of course, we have to remember the suffering older sex workers too… get the children off the streets, so the real women can better sell their “wares”! We won’t discuss our views on whether or not prostitution should be legalized or illegal, but objectively underage girls should not be forced into a position where they sell their bodies for money, whether convinced, coerced, or tricked.
