A Florida woman was painting her home when she decided to use gasoline to clean up. Can you guess what happened?
When the woman finished painting her trailer, she thought it would be a smart idea to clean her hands with gasoline. I can’t blame her for thinking that. I know some people that have recommended using gas or diesel to clean some stains but they are adamant to only use diesel since it does not catch fire as easily as gasoline. I guess no one told that to this woman. Anyway, after cleaning up, she left the can of gasoline on the stove…which was lit.
Can you guess what that did? Fumes from the can were ignited by the pilot light, causing a fire to break out. The woman suffered burns to her gasoline soaked hands. Her trailer completely burned down.
In a statement, Sandra King, a representative from the Pompano Beach Fire Rescue, said “One should never use gasoline as a cleaning solvent - ever - near an open flame, because it gives off flammable vapors.” Hmm…who would have guessed? I guess the woman never read those signs at gas stations warning you about smoking because the fumes catch fire.
