Lazy Japanese fishermen rejoice! Play a cell phone game, win a fish! Wait, what?

Ippon Tsuri

A Japanese company has introduced a new cell phone game in which you can get the fish you catch delivered to your home. It’s like fishing for lazy people! We should get it here. I’m sure people would love it.

A company in western Japan named FIT, a system development company, created the game. The game is called “Ippon Zuri” which translates to “pole-and-line fishing”. The developer teamed up with a local seafood wholesaler to make the concept a reality.

The player must first purchase three games for 1,000 yen (about $10) to play the game. The player uses the mobile phone keys to cast bait to fish in the water on the screen. If the player manages to land a fish, a slot machine pops up and if the player gets 3 appropriate numbers, they reel in and win the fish. The seafood wholesaler gets a message telling them what kind of fish it was and who to deliver it to. Shortly afterwards, the winner of the fish receives the real thing at their doorstep.

The game promises more entertainment than a mundane trip to the supermarket and more convenience than a fishing trip to the seaside, and it makes a great pick-me-up for hungry fishermen feeling down on their real-world luck.

This should definitely be brought over to the US for all the people that are too lazy to go catch fish for themselves. They should develop a version that not only allows you to catch the fish but also lets you pick what spices to season it with and virtually cook it. When you’re done, a cook somewhere will make it to your liking so you can have fresh, cooked fish delivered right to your door. That’d be awesome.
