KILLER FISH INVADING ENGLAND!!!

February 20th, 2008 · No Comments

Giant Snakehead

A fish from South-East Asia known as the giant snakehead has been spotted in a river in England. Many fear the reproductive success of this species as it eats absolutely anything!

The fish was caught in the River Witham in Lincolnshire, England. The specimen caught was 2 feet long but the fish can grow up to 5 feet. Researchers say the fish was most likely from an aquarium and the owner was generous enough to share his aquarium fish with the local ecosystem. The fish is notorious for eating any kind of animal, even people if they are caught in the way of the fish. In addition, this fish has the ability to crawl onto land when in pursuit of prey and can live out of water for a few days.

The fish was previously sighted in Wisconsin where it had a devastating effect on local wildlife. It was such a problem that people were paid to be on the lookout for the fish with guns. Entire lakes were also poisoned to purge them of the threat. The fisherman that caught the animal was smart enough to take pictures and send them to wildlife experts. Luckily, experts say it is likely the fish is unable to survive the cold winter but precautions are being taken just in case. Ok, maybe I overstated the title a little bit but the fish is a threat nonetheless.

I found a video of juvenile snakeheads eating a catfish for your viewing pleasure.
