A groundbreaking study discovered conducted by the University of Sheffield in England found children are afraid of clowns. OH MY GOD! HOLD THE PRESSES! The study surveyed 250 children ages 4 through 16 and found that most kids are afraid of clowns. The researchers concluded that hospitals should never use clowns to decorate children’s wards. Researchers also found that although some people have had bad experiences with clowns, most people have no reason to dislike them.
They do point out the fact that clowns look different from normal people and their painted faces, long feet, and weird hair are what make children scared. Many clowns are apparently shifting to a more acceptable look in order to accommodate this.
I wonder how much money was spent on this study. Was it really necessary to do a study on something everyone already knows? Whoever came up with it is a genius.
