He was successful… to some extent, creating a crank that would charge your ipod. If you were trapped on a desert island in the middle of the ocean, this thing might let you play your tunes while you try desperately to start fires and catch fish with sticks. Don’t ignore the 30 minute crank time required just to get it going… if you make one yourself, might want to buy a bigger/better crank.
