“Henry the hexapus”, 6 tentacles and all business!
Discovered in a lobster pot off the coast of England only two weeks ago, “Henry the hexapus” was taken to a local marine zoo. No one noticed that this “octopus” was really a few legs short of that standard, and when the animal attached itself to the glass walls observers noticed it only had sex legs. This might be the first case of a “hexapus” ever…
Likely a birth defect and not caused by an accident, this is likely the first ever discovery of a six-legged squid/octopus-like creature in the history of mankind. The Center’s displays supervisor Carey Duckhouse stated that inquiries to other aquariums, searches of the internet, and talks with experts have revealed no other examples.
“Hexapus” is a nice name, but when a mother has six babys we don’t call them hextuplets, but sextuplets. We at ITR believe “Henry the Hexapus” should be called “Henry the sexapus”, which might draw more visitors! A five-legged sea monster would be a “pentapus,” a seven-legged monster a “heptapus”. We’d just love to see a “nonapus”, which would probably be an octopus with an extra arm.
Don’t call Henry a six-legged octopus, because that’s like calling a motorcycle a two-wheeled car. We guess. Just know that the monster only attacked the glass after being called an “octopus,” and apparently strongly dislikes being called that.
