Skittles

Illegal contraband according to school officials

Michael Sheridan, an honor student from Connecticut, was suspended from school after buying contraband from another student. The contraband in question? A bag of Skittles. Yeah, we’re referring to those oh-so-wonderful “taste the rainbow” pieces of candy goodness.

When questioned, school officials stated the New Haven school system banned candy from schools as part of a district wellness policy. The student claims he was not aware buying bady was against the rules but said he should have known something was up when the seller was being secretive about it and insisted on having him meet him under the bleachers before lunch.

Initially the punishment for purchasing the “contraband” was 3 days but was reduced to one after outrage by the parents. In addition to his suspension, the student is no longer allowed to attend an honors student dinner and is no longer the class vice president. Talk about an overreaction. We know the school is trying to make an example of the student but is picking on one of their star pupils justified? We think not.
