A teen was caught trying to smuggle drugs across the Mexican border. For some reason she thought bringing in several huge cans of vegetables wouldn’t arose suspicion. Yeah, right.
The teen was a 17-year-old girl was in high school student and living in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. For those that don’t know, Ciudad Juarez is right at the Mexican-American border and sits across from El Paso, Texas. It’s a pretty crappy/crummy city. You know, one of those places people tell you to never go to. Anyway, when she walked across the border, the girl declared she was carrying food and showed officers six huge cans of vegetables.
The border patrol officers figured something was up when they noticed the cans supposedly held hominy and jalapeño peppers, two vegetables that are not only readily available here in the US but are also very inexpensive. Officers X-rayed the cans and discovered they were filled with 25 pounds of marijuana. She is now being held by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department.
What was she thinking? Honestly, everyone knows the government has tried to tighten inspections at the border since 2001. That coupled with the fact that she was traveling alone, walked, and carried several cans of vegetables, she was basically asking to get caught. Did she actually think she wouldn’t draw attention to herself? This girl is something else.
