Here’s an idea, if you want to make a quick buck why don’t you just threaten businesses to give you money or else you’ll sell drugs there. Yeah, that’ll work…
Egerton C. Wood recently went into the Pitcher’s Mound Pub and Pizzeria and threatened the bartender working at the time, George Castiglia, to give him $500 a week or else. Not only did he threaten to turn the business into a “drug haven”, he also told George he would hurt his family.
“(Wood) just showed up and said we’re taking over the area, he was screaming and yelling,”
Charles Decker, the owner, said.
Luckily, several people were in the restaurant at the time and managed to kick Wood out. Wood returned later that day around closing time and told Castiglia he had men waiting at his house ready to harm his family if he didn’t pay up. Castiglia gave the jerk $382, which was enough to get him to leave.
Police later arrived at Wood’s home and arrested him. In response, Wood geniously (is that a word?) responded “Castiglia owed him money for construction work.” Wood is now being held at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $15,000 bail. I wonder what part of this plan sounded good to him. Was it the part where he said he was going to sell drugs or the part where he said he’d hurt someone’s family? Hmm…I wonder if he was on drugs at the time.
