Cops bust underage root beer party. Wait, what?

Video of the police busting the root beer party

Police responded to calls concerning what they thought was an underage kegger at the Zebro home in Kronenwetter, Wisconsin. All signs pointed to it being an underage drinking party, from the rowdy kids, dozens of cars, and the keg they all drank from. Unfortunately for the cops, they were busting a root beer party (the legal drinking age for root beer is 0 by the way).

Every breath test came back with a zero reading, because none of the kids drank anything. They put on a little show though, acting drunk at times and doing things like keg stands which are performed at real parties. They were actually videotaping all of this as a sign of protest, and it wasn’t against the cops.

Dustin Zebro and his friends threw the party because their high school suspended some of their friends from sports, probably because of underage drinking. Zebro is quoted as saying that “we didn’t know it would work well enough to make the cops show up,” as really they were trying to poke fun at the school administrators and not fool the police.

We aren’t sure how we feel about this. The kids were acting a little disrespectful to the cops, but then again the cops were busting an alcohol-less party. But from the video (the Solo cups strewn on the tables next to soda cans, boisterous yelling, and keg stands) it seems like the police were justified in thinking that the kids were drinking and having a real underage drinking party. Sometimes it’s hard to tell if someone is drunk or just being themselves, especially high schoolers. Fundamentally though, this is a story about police breaking up a root beer party, and that’s just silly.
