1 down, 199,999 to go. That’s a lot of tar baby!

In a kind of confusing wish, “artist” Adrian Avenell of Australia is calling 200,000 two-tone cigarette butts in order to make a “sculpture” and statement about smoking. The sculpture will be pavement covered with cigarette butts, a coffin, and the Grim Reaper (blugeoning the viewer with obvious symbols). The artist is hoping that the country’s anti-smoking lobby would commission the piece, but wants everyone to know that it is “not necessarily intended to have an anti-smoking message.” That’s fitting, since Avenell is a 10-cigarette-a-day smoker himself. He just needs other smokers to pitch in, or pitch him their used cigarettes.
