Well, maybe not a gun-fight in the typical sense but this fight involved a gun nonetheless. The incident broke out when two people at a Wal-Mart got in an argument that eventually resulted in physical violence. At one point, one of the men struck the other with a gun…a price gun. By the way, both men were over 70.
The fight happened at a Wal-Mart in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. The incident occurred when 70-year-old Dennis O’Brien and 81-year-old John Esposito, both employees of that store, got in an argument with one another. The exact nature of the argument is now known but at one point O’Brien struck Esposito with a price gun he was holding. O’Brien says he acted in self-defense but a security video shows O’Brien was the first to attack, striking Esposito in the face and then shoving him to the ground. O’Brien is in jail facing aggravated battery charges.
You can basically count on these two men getting fired. Wal-Mart hires the elderly in an effort to give them added income but maybe they’ll rethink their policies after this. Actually, they probably won’t but this doesn’t help improve the image of the elderly, especially in terms of their attitude and being angry all the time, at least that’s how they are towards us.
We wonder what prompted this fight though. They were probably arguing about something trivial, which explains why they didn’t want to talk about it. Perhaps the two were arguing about social security benefits or whose children were the most successful. This just reminds us of times when we were younger and argued with another kid about whose toy was the best and eventually the whole thing breaking out into a fight because we can’t come to terms. Yeah, juvenile.
We wonder if Esposito saw the hit coming. At that age, you’re actually only able to move at a fraction of normal people speed. We can just image this whole thing happening in slow motion like some Matrix scenes. Maybe O’Brien used gravity to his advantage. In that case, he’d only have to get the gun into the air and then let mother nature handle the rest. Regardless, whatever happened to respecting your elders?
