This one goes out all the girls out there who think they’re too short. Well, you’re not because this girl basically takes the cake in terms of being the shortest person in the world. 14-year-old Jyoti Amge stands at a whopping 1ft 11in and weighs 11 pounds! Surprisingly, she is still not the shortest person in the world.
Jyoti suffers from a condition known as achondroplasia that has basically stopped her from growing any taller than her current height. As a result, she has to have special clothes, jewelry, plates, utensils, beds, etc made for her. Still, Jyoti does not let her height get her down at all. She does everything a normal teenager does and has big dreams which include travelling to the US.
She said: ‘I am proud of being small. I love all the attention I get. I’m not scared of being small and I don’t regret it.
‘I’m just the same as other people. I eat like you, dream like you. I don’t feel any different.’
People at her school treat her no differently than they would you or I, except that they do have to watch where they step sometimes. Last thing Jyoti needs is to get stepped on by people, she’s got the rest of her life to deal with stuff like that.
Jyoti has become so popular in her native town that people travel from all over the place just to see her. In addition, she is releasing an album she made in collaboration with a famous Indian pop star. Jyoti has aspirations of becoming a Bollywood actress and wants to travel the world.
Given her small stature, you’d think Jyoti is the smallest person in the world but another teen from Nepal actually takes that honor. The now 15-year-old Khagendra Thapa Magar stands at an astounding 1ft 8in and weighs about 9.92lbs. Although not officially the world’s smallest person, Khagendra has already submitted an application to the Guiness Book of World Records and is expecting to be approved for the honor.
The teens parents were initially ashamed of his small stature but their fears were relieved when he actually became famous once people found out about her. Now, a support group exists that tries to raise money for Khagendra to pay for any expenses he may incur in his life.
