What can be worse than filing a fake police report? How about lying about carrying out your community service sentence? A New Hampshire man is charged for tampering with public records after falsifying documents stating he had fulfilled his community service obligations. He was given the sentence after filing a police report stating he had been mugged.
In the report, twenty-year-old Adam Bennett stated a man had jumped him and stole his money and shoes. After investigating the matter, police discovered the whole thing was made up and charged Bennett with filing a false report. Why would he make something like this up? There was no benefit. Maybe he wanted to tell people about the time he was beat up and had his stuff stolen. Sounds manly enough, right?
A judge sentences him to 100 hours of community service, of which Bennett served a whopping 0 hours. Bennett submitted a report stating the community service he had done but police were surprised to find the entire document had been faked. He probably had friends sign off on the “services”. This speaks very poorly of this guy. Not only was he willing to waste the time of the Nelson Police Department in order to have them look into a fake mugging, he wasn’t even man enough to admit his mistake and pay for the crime. Wow.
