A Florida officer has retired from the police department at the “old” age of 43 for “personal” reasons. The good people at his police department know the reason though, a complaint filed by a woman claiming he was having an affair with her. The complaint also alleged he had sex with her in the squad car while on duty several times over their 10 year affair. Yeah, that’ll just about do it.

When the Bradenton Police Department was called after to the apartment of Alison Wright after she told 911 she was arguing with her lover and was afraid of him, officers never expected the lover was one of their own, Sergeant Thomas Petty. Police managed to split the two up but not before Petty managed to slip in a couple of petty comments.

Police claim Petty went to Wright’s house to drop off some things because he was “done with her”. The interesting part of this is that Petty is actually married. Perhaps he decided to so the (W)right thing and end the possibly damaging relationship. Too bad for him though as Wright decided to do the right thing and went to the station the next day to formally file a complaint against him with the Internal Affairs Department. Wright claimed Petty had been having an affair with her for the past 10 years, during which he had sex with her while on duty and in his uniform in the back of his squad car. How damaging is that?

Knowing he would have fought a losing battle had the matter been investigated, Wright quickly turned in his retirement papers after a whopping 18 years in the service. Wright cited his reasons for leaving were personal but we all know the real reason. Internal Affairs has decided not to investigate the matter because Wright no longer works there. Who would have known it would be that easy to get away with it? Well, obviously Wright figured it out. Hmm, maybe the same thing would apply if he had stolen money or intentionally hurt someone on the job. Just retire and you get away scot-free!

He probably realized he’d have to deal with his wife, or should we say “soon-to-be ex-wife”, as well. He probably had enough on his hands with her. We guess it is true what they say, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”. This got totally got owned by the woman he was having the affair with.
