An eBay seller sued one of his buyers over feedback left. The buyer was unsatisfied with the way his item was packed, reportedly receiving the contents almost falling out of the envelope with nothing securing them from being damaged. Instead of leaving negative feedback though, the buyer decided to leave neutral feedback. This did not bode well with the seller who promptly sued him.
Steve Shellhorn bought some silver coins off of an eBay auction and even though they were not packaged well, he felt he got a good deal, causing him to leave neutral feedback. The seller was not happy about it at all and decided to be really childish and unprofessional. Instead of dealing with the feedback like a normal human being, he decided to sue Shellhorn for, get this, $10,000 dollars.
Shellhorn consulted a lawyer who told him the seller did not have a case. The lawyer went before a judge and got the lawsuit thrown out. Too bad Shellhorn lost $500 in hiring a lawyer but at least he won’t have to pay for this frivolous lawsuit. Shellhorn says he no longer plans on leaving feedback for sellers fearing this might happen again. With this guy’s luck, some idiotic seller will sue him for not leaving feedback. Shellhorn’s lawyer warns that making a purchase on eBay is a business transaction and there is always a risk of litigation.
If the seller took neutral feedback this way, how will he take it when someone leaves him negative feedback? Judging by his reaction, he’s probably not that pleasant to deal with and will experience negative feedback soon. We’re surprised a lawsuit can even be based on something like this. It’s like buying a car from a dealership, telling the seller you’re okay with the sale, and then being sued by them for being indifferent instead of loving it. Completely ridiculous.
