A 34-year-old Australian man was stopped twice by police within 800 meters (0.49 miles) on Saturday. The first offense occurred when officers conducted a random breath test where the officer found the man was three times over the legal limit to drive. The man was given a court attendance date and had his licence suspended. The man immediately jumped back into his vehicle and drove off but was again stopped by police within minutes. He was charged with another drunk driving offense.
Do you think that maybe the cops wanted the man to jump back into the car and take off again, for the extra fine/arrest/whatever? He was clearly quite drunk if he jumped back into the car, which leads us to believe that the police should have confiscated the car to protect him and everyone else.
The police should have taken the car from the man right after he was charged with the first offense. It astounds us the officer allowed him to take off like that. We wonder if he’ll have both court dates on the same day. That would be super convenient for everyone.
