When the mother of Conchita, a 3-week-old monkey at the London Zoo, had a cesarean, she was placed in a separate enclosure until she recovered. Sadly, this meant Conchita would be without a mother during a critical time of her life. Zookeepers decided to place a teddy bear in her cage to keep her company and were surprised when she became especially attached to it. The little monkey thinks it’s her mother! *Pics below*
The monkey is a mangabey monkey, which is an endangered species, native to West Africa. In addition to being cared for by the teddy bear, her trainer, Andrea Payne, feeds and cleans up after her. Isn’t that so adorable? Come on, you know it’s true.
