Missing woman\'s body found after 42 years...sitting in her apartment

Hedviga Golik from Zagreb, Croatia was finally found last week after being reported missing 42 years ago. Golik was reported missing in 1966, at the age of 42, when neighbors suddenly stopped seeing her. For some reason though, police never thought of looking in her apartment. What kind of lazy operation were they running back then? The only reason they found her now was because officials arrived to the apartment to see who lived there because apparently the landlord wasn’t doing his job.

Police and bailiffs arrived at the apartment and broke in, only to find Golik sitting with a cup of tea in front of her black and white television.

“When officers went there, they said it was like stepping into a place frozen in time.
“The cup she had been drinking tea from was still on a table next to the chair she had been sitting in and the house was full of things no one had seen for decades. Nothing had been disturbed for decades, even though there were more than a few cobwebs in there.”

Neighbors claim they thought Golik had moved and gone to live with family members. Wouldn’t they have seen her moving out? Chances are they were just too lazy to check up on her. Also, how is it that a landlord allowed an apartment to sit empty for such a long time? That’s tens of thousands worth of lost income. It’d be hilarious if the same person were in charge of the building today. Too bad it took this long to find the woman though. After such a long time, it’s unlikely enough tissue is left to identify the cause of death but here’s hoping.

On a lighter note, we’re sure the antiques in the apartment can be resold for a profit considering everything in there is old and, as they mentioned, no longer available. It’d be perfect for someone’s collection. You know what they say, when life hands you lemons, you make lemonade.
