Homeowner\'s association threatens members if they don\'t water their lawns even though there\'s a drought

Homeowner’s associations are notorious for having a lot of rules. Typically, they have rules determining the color your roof needs to be, how your shed needs to match your house, and the maximum fence height, these organizations do what they think is necessary to make your community look top notch. The thing is, when are the rules a little much? How about when you threaten to fine homeowners for not having green lawns? It doesn’t seem bad but how about threatening them even though there’s a severe drought? A Central Florida homeowner’s association sent letters to more than 12 homes threatening to fine them because their lawn is apparently too ugly and they wanted to changed ASAP.

The homeowners received a notice this week stating they had seven days to make their grass green. The thing is, the homeowners don’t really want to because everyone is trying to conserve water.

“I don’t know how to correct it in seven days,” Cervone said. “I’ll spray-paint it green if I have to.”

Property managers don’t feel sympathy for the homeowners because they were warned three times before. Guess what Mr. Property Manager? Warning homeowners is NOT going to make it rain, big surprise there, so threatening them is not going to make them waste water on something that is completely superficial. You’d think they would be understanding and let it go but no, aesthetics is more important than saving water. Of course, water is one of those things we don’t need to survive. Wait, what? We do need water? Oh, interesting…

Surprisingly, the president of the homeowner’s association was warned too. Apparently being the president means you have no power.
