Police involved in standoff at Wisconsin home. Sadly, the occupants of the home were unaware.

Wisconsin police were involved in an all night standoff with the occupants of a home in “Hales Corners” after neighbors complained of hearing shots fired. Police promptly arrived at the home after receiving complaints around 1 am. Since the occupants were obviously armed, police took the cautious route and called to the occupants from outside the home. Sadly, their attempts were as ineffective as you could possibly get because the occupants were completely oblivious of the fact police were outside.

That was primarily because by the time police arrived, the two 19-year-olds and the 21-year-old that lived in the home had already gone to sleep. While they slept, police called in SWAT officers and evacuated neighbors from their homes, you know, just in case a shootout happened. After the 7+ hour standoff, the men woke up and realized the crap-load of police were outside. They immediately gave themselves up and are charged for possessing a firearm and firing it.

So, who gets blamed for the wasted resources and money used during the standoff? Better yet, who do the neighbors get to be pissed off at for being taken out of their homes in the middle of the night? You could argue the occupants of the house are to blame because they did fire the gun but really, why didn’t SWAT knock on the door? Those people are loaded with body armor so they could have done it. Also, the house was quiet since the occupants were asleep so it puzzles us that responding officers took the silence and turned off lights as a threat. Someone is gonna have to pay for this and we think it’ll be both the police and the guys that fired the gun. Regardless, this had to be embarrassing for police.
