Guy tries to spray squirrel with pepper spray…fails

The Rochester Fire Department was called to the home of a man who had a squirrel break into his home. Surprisingly, the call wasn’t to ask for help to remove the squirrel from the home but instead for help after a failed attempt to get the animal out of the house. Firefighters were called to the house around 4:45pm to help five people wash pepper spray out of their eyes. Apparently the owner of the house, for some very strange reason, thought spraying the animal with pepper spray would get it out of the house. Instead, the pepper spray completely missed the animal and accumulated inside the home, getting in the eyes of all the occupants.

The reason why it stayed in the air is because the guy didn’t bother to open up windows to let the air leave the house. Officials washed the pepper from the people’s eyes and opened windows to flush the spray out. Interestingly enough, the squirrel left on his own accord after officials opened windows. Hmmm…why didn’t the homeowner think of that?

This goes to show how people shouldn’t use items meant for self-defense without knowing what they’re doing. Maybe he thought the pepper spray was the gel or foam type that stays in one place. Regardless, his first idea should have been to open all windows and doors to try to get it to leave. That’s what we did when we had a squirrel break into our apartment this past summer. It worked like a charm except for the part where it climbed my leg but whatever works…
