We had never heard of “dry drowning,” but apparently it’s a very real threat. A 10-year-old boy from South Carolina recently died several hours after swallowing water in a swimming pool. He must have swallowed quite a bit of water! After swimming, he said he was tired and took a nap. When his parents checked on him a little later, water was coming out of his nose and he couldn’t breathe. He died at a hospital, and the death was judged to be accidental and from asphyxiation and lungs full of water. Our condolences go out to the family, this is a very tragic story.
