Record gas prices in America are changing the country in many ways. We just covered the sad state of the gas lawnmower industry, a man who built his own oil wells in his backyard, and old gas pumps’ struggles to make it in a new gas pump sort of world. A new victim of high gas prices has emerged: Nevada’s brothel employees and the truckers who use their “services”. Brothels are changing hands and losing business as truckers decide to spend their money servicing their trucks, and not themselves. A gallon of diesel costs 67.5% more than it did just a year ago, and when costs rise somethings have to be cut. The brothels are feeling the brunt!

Brothels throughout the state are suffering:

George Flint, a lobbyist for the Nevada Brothel Owners’ Association, says many of the brothels are seeing decreases in revenue anywhere from 20 to 45 percent. He says he has “never seen it this dramatic” in 48 years.

Not all brothels are suffering however, with many seeing increasing profits. These are ones who have “changed”, either by cutting costs, gaining publicity, or using new tactics in luring in customers.

We think of all those hurt by rising gas prices, we aren’t too sad about this story.
