The age-old stereotype of construction workers gawking at passing women and making suggestive and rude comments persist, but the traditional gendered stereotypes may be changing. West Kent College recently sent an email to its female pupils warning them that wolf-whistling at construction workers constituted harassment and all females participating in the crude behavior should stop immediately. Apparently the contracted workers on campus felt that girls were harassing them with suggestive comments and whistles, all while they were trying to get some serious work done! Scotland is currently discussing laws that could make wolf-whistling builders sex offenders and eligible for 10 years in jail, with no provision for whistling college girls. Leave the poor workers alone girls!
